Question

In your column 'Miracle in Abingdon' you refer to churches not addressing the issues. I am part of a Church that does. Have you heard of the Church of Religious Science? Have you read the book by our founder Ernest Holmes written in 1926?

Answer

Thank you for your letter. Indeed I have heard of the Church of Religious Science and I have read the work of your founder. I agree with you that this is a faith community that is seeking to address contemporary issues in a new and refreshing way. Last August in Pacific Grove California I had the privilege of being the Keynote Speaker at a National Conference of the Church of Religious Science. It was an incredibly lively gathering.

I have also been involved extensively with a sister movement of The Church of Religious Science known as the Unity Movement. I have great admiration for both. In many ways both of these movements are harbingers of a new and exciting future for the Christian faith.
